More Fun in Palawan

Some of the things we did at Club Paradise:
Kayaked around the island. Some of us more efficiently (and drier) than others.

The kids getting into their kayaks.
Chris lounging at our first beach stop.
Dead monitor lizard!
Chris and Kristen are the dot on the far right.
Shaun wisely hopped out (onto the reef--ouch!) to keep
their kayak from capsizing.
Chris and Kristen back in the boat!
Hiked to the water tower--the highest point on the island.

On the trail to the water tower through the jungle.

Ken, Shaun, Tracy, Chris and Kristen at the top of the tower.
Looking up at Chris on the tower. Note the steep ladder/steps up.
Looking down at Dead Monitor Lizard beach.

Swam in the pool every night and watched the fruit bats take off at dusk. Apparently they roost at Dimakyan island, but go to other islands every night to eat.

Our evening lounge. We usually had it to ourselves.
Fruit bats hanging out.

Snorkeled the house reef where I saw an octopus hunting. It changed shape, size and colors--just wish I'd had an underwater video or at least a camera along to capture it! Totally amazing. Note--none of the below pictures are mine-but  look very much like what I saw.

This was the color of the octopus as it was hunting--exploring the holes and crevices of the reef with its tentacles.
Then it would fluff its body over the coral and instantly change to this blueish pearly-green.
Then it would form a tent over the coral and its color would shift in waves
from pastel blue to green to pink to white and back to blue again.

Played beach volleyball as the sun set over the ocean.

Chris and Shaun on our private beach court.

We went scuba diving. Kristen went diving for the first time, she's a natural!
She went on to get her open water diver certificate.

Kristen being an attentive student.
Ken and the kids on the dive boat, plus a German diver, "Bodo"-who had an awesome underwater camera.
Chris, Shaun and Tracy relaxing on the boat.
Beautiful water, beautiful skies.
Local fisherman--they wear one fin and a mask and lay across their boats
with their heads in the water  looking for a good fish to spear.
The boys.

We hung out in our cool bungalows.

Ken and I in front of our bungalow--complete with hammock.

We listened to these guys every night at dinner.
They knew an incredible number of songs and had a great sound.

Us with the boys in the band. Thanks guys!
Thanks Club Paradise for a wonderful time!
