Street in Trevignano
I made it to Italy! Of course my flight out of Hong Kong was delayed--from 11:30pm to 2:00am. That was a bit painful--trying to stay awake at the airport so I wouldn't fall asleep and miss my flight. That was the longest flight I have on the trip--12+ hours, but it's done!

Lake Bracciano

And now I'm here, in Monterosi, Italy--a small town about an hour north of Rome, in the beautiful Italian countryside. After I unpacked and had a quick shower, we went to Lake Bracciano and had lunch in a small Trattoria beside the lake. I had Lunghi with funghi--basically udon noodles (sorry, you can see I view things through an asian lens!) with truffles and mushrooms. Yum. Then we walked through the quaint village of Trevignano to a gelateria and had gelato. Double yum! I had limone and frutti di bosco (mixed fruits-mostly berries I think). I might have to have gelato on a daily basis, so I can sample ALL the flavors! Somehow, I don't think I'm going to be losing weight on this trip!

Love the kitty sign above the posta box!

A common plaque outside houses.

Doorways here are so cool!

Random grape-stomping plaque on a wall.

Gelato!
I'll post pictures of Deb and Fred's lovely restored farmhouse later (when I've taken some). Last night when I went to bed, in the brief moment before I passed out, I listened to the absolute silence of the country. No pile drivers, or horns honking or traffic noise. Just silence.
Buona Notte!
